Aubergine (Eggplant/Brinjal)
Aubergine (Solanum melongena), also known as Eggplant (US and Canada) or Brinjal (parts of Asia), is a plant from the tropics so is best grown under glass but it can be grown in a sheltered spot.
How To Grow
Place seeds in 9cm pots and keep them in a heated greenhouse or on a south facing window sill in your house. When the root ball fills the pot transplant into a 23cm pot and grow in a green house, if the plants are to be grown outside then leave 60cm between plants. When the plants reach 30cm tall pinch out the centre tip to make the plant bush out.
