Using the Timeline View
Learn how to use VegPlotter's Timeline view to see a yearly overview of all your planting schedules, filter by plant or family, and spot conflicts.
The Timeline view gives you a full year overview of all your planting schedules displayed as a visual timeline (Gantt chart). It shows when each planting is sown, planted out, harvested and removed, making it easy to see your entire garden plan at a glance.
The Timeline view is available on the Jobs page when you switch to Yearly planning mode.
On the Jobs page, use the planning mode toggle at the top of the page to switch between Monthly and Yearly modes.
When you select Yearly mode, the monthly task list is replaced with the Timeline view showing all your plantings for the selected year.
You can set your default planning mode in your Account Settings so VegPlotter opens in your preferred view each time.
Each row in the timeline represents a single planting on your plan. The row label on the left shows the plant name, variety (if set), bed label and plot name.
Coloured icons along the row show when each job takes place across the twelve months of the year:
Completed jobs are shown with a faded appearance so you can easily see what's done and what's still to do.
You can open the Key at any time from the Help button in the toolbar to remind yourself what each icon means.
The filter controls at the top of the page let you narrow down the timeline to focus on specific plantings. You can filter by:
Click a filter button to open the dropdown, then tick or untick items to adjust the filter. The dropdown stays open while you make your selections. Click the filter button again or click elsewhere to close it.
When filters are active, the timeline updates immediately to show only the matching plantings. If no plantings match your filters, a message will appear suggesting you adjust or remove them.
The timeline automatically detects when two plantings overlap in time and space within the same bed. When a conflict is found, a warning icon appears on the affected rows.
Click the warning icon for more details about the conflict. Conflicts are still detected even when one of the overlapping plants is hidden by a filter, so you can be confident that any visible planting marked as conflicting genuinely overlaps with something else in the same bed.
You can adjust your planting schedules directly on the timeline without needing to go back to the plan page.
Use the Mark Complete button to mark selected harvest icons as done, or Mark Incomplete to undo a completion.
