Medlar Tree
A wide spreading small tree, it's grown for its large, russet-brown unusual-shaped fruits. The fruit is good for making into jams and jellies.
How To Grow
If planting a new tree, ideally do so between November and March. It is important for the tree to develop a strong, straight clear trunk to support the spreading crown.
How/When To Harvesting
Medlars can be picked in late October or early November when they are about 2.5-5cm across. At this stage they are not fully ripe although the fruit can be left to ripen on the tree well into autumn to develop flavour provided there is no danger of frosts
