Carrots are an easy crop to grow and will taste much better than carrots purchased from a supermarket.
Carrots need a well dug soil, if there are a lot of stones in the soil, the carrots may grow in strange shapes. They can be grown in containers or window boxes. Carrot root fly can be a significant problem, making the roots inedible. To stop carrot root fly use a very fine mesh netting about 40cm tall to surround the carrot bed.
Pull up the carrots as soon as they're big enough to eat. It's best to harvest them in the evening to avoid attracting carrot fly.
